I have drawn three different trees in three different medias.
I have used pencil, charcoal and ink to capture different characteristics of the trees (the trees were not completely bare of leaves I just find the branches much more interesting).
Pencil shows the complexity of the branches,
Charcoal emphasises the texture of the bark
and using ink was a fantastic way to capture how the tree has grown due to the wind.
It’s almost time.
A week Monday I will be starting as a student at Hereford College of Arts. Scary!
Having said that I have already moved in to my house in Hereford and met two of the other students I will be living with. I spent a few days there recently and really enjoyed. I will be going back on the 26th giving me a few days to settle in again before starting my course.
Before starting the course we have been asked to fill a sketchbook, drawing from life and experimenting in different medias.
I have a particular liking for ink.
I was just about to do a post with some of my new work but I then realised I’d had these images here ready just waiting, for ages, to be posted.
So you’ll just have to wait another day or two to see what I’ve been up to recently.
This is another piece I did during my final project, Industrial and Urban Landscapes, on my Foundation Art course.
I’ve been meaning to post these for ages!!
I’d have liked to have taken better photos but I’d never put up photos if I stuck to that.
These are stackable rings I made for my last project on my Silversmithing course.
I did them as part of my final Foundation Art project – Industrial and Urban Landscapes.
They are based on the shapes of the industrial buildings and machinery at Port Talbot Steel Works.

This is the last of all the students work at the Gower College Foundation Art exhibition and in my opinion it is one of the best.
These fantastic mayflies made out of watch parts were made by Megan Davies. 
Megan originally saw herself as a Fine Artist, specifically a painter, but during this course she experimented in many different areas: sculpture, ceramics, craft, photography.. etc. She has also done a lot of modelling!
Megan is now going on to do the BA (Hons) Art & Design Multi-Disciplinary course at Coleg Sir Gar.

I have a Distinction in Foundation Art and Design!!! YAY!
So freedom for three months and then off to Hereford!
Wow! I don’t know what I’m going to do! Haha

Lindsey Harrison
Lindsey’s dress is based on horse riding and is made to be worn whilst on a horse. The double skirt allows the dress to fall around the horse as well as the rider.
Chloe May Porter
Chloe’s work is based around festivals and the use of tents. She decided to get her dress professionally photographed on a model and to display these images in the exhibition – they really emphasise the design and concept.
Rhian Beynon
Both the design of Rhian’s dress and the surface patterns are based on the insects and their habitats. This student has also had her dress photographed to show off its beauty and has displayed textile samples of her intricate patterns.
